Nottingham Colorectal Service has one of the busiest emergency and colorectal cancer workloads in the UK. It is also a major tertiary referral centre for the wider East Midlands. We have established services in advanced laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, intestinal failure, anal cancer, retroperitoneal sarcoma, faecal incontinence, TEO/TEMS, SILS, locally advanced and recurrent colorectal cancer and an active Academic Department (University of Nottingham).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are committed to the development of all our team members both educationally and clinically, however relevant specialist knowledge and skills to degree level or equivalent in healthcare and gastrointestinal diseases is essential. The post-holder will be expected to undertake an MSc in advanced care practice funded and supported as part of the post. Upon successful completion of the qualification the post holder will take up a role as an advanced care practitioner.

Essential criteria

  • established registered nurse
  • Degree
  • Evidence of teaching, supervision & assessment skills
  • ability to undertake Non-Medical Prescribing

Desirable criteria

  • Post-registration qualification or training relevant to speciality.
  • Working towards MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice.
  • Registered Independent Non-Medical prescriber.
  • Mentor/assessor and/or teaching qualification

  • experience of working in colorectal surgery
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Worked as or working as a band 6 or above.

I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if it is required (by deduction from first month’s pay).
