Job description
Study Support / Personal Assistant for a Masters Student
Fixed Term Contract from Jan 2021 – July 2023
Based in Loughborough
Salary £16p/h + annual leave + Bank Holidays, pro-rata
Full Time: Mon – Fri hours between 10am - 6pm (flexible)
I am a fun-loving, out-going 27-year-old female graduate, with Cerebral Palsy, I have started a Sports Management, Politics and International Development Masters at Loughborough University in September 2022. I am looking for someone to work alongside my full time Study PA to provide professional and personal support while I undertake my studies. The role involves attending some lectures with me and helping me to decode some of the content to translate into my assignments. Although you don’t have to be a ‘tutor’ it would be really helpful if you have experience of tutoring/mentoring other students (e.g., tutoring A level students).
I need someone who understands that my disability is something that I live with – it is not WHO I am. The support you will provide is critical for me to be able to live life to the full, so I am looking for someone who is super reliable and wants to do this job for the whole academic year.
Knowledge, skills & experience required:
· A 2:1 or above Sports, Business, Management, Humanities or Social Science degree.
· Ability to ‘teach’ and act as a mentor/tutor.
· Strong verbal and written communication – including public speaking.
· Excellent time keeping and ability to work to deadlines.
· Strong organisational skills to handle a busy schedule.
· A proactive individual with good initiative.
· A can-do attitude and a willingness to learn.
· Excellent Microsoft office skills (Mac user experience would be an advantage).
Key Responsibilities:
· You may be required to accompany me to lectures and seminars and take notes.
· Assist me with essays and exam writing as study support.
· Accompany me on academic and extracurricular activities/trips, i.e., sports matches.
· Manage a diary for a busy schedule and support with email correspondence.
· Accompany me to appointments and meetings (minutes will need to be taken during all meetings).
· Support me during presentations and other speaking opportunities – you will need to be comfortable with public speaking.
· Opportunity if wanted to work at my family home near Winchester during holidays/reading weeks (all expenses covered).
· Assist with personal care (no experience is necessary and full training will be provided).
· Cooking/food preparation for meals whilst on shift.
· Basic domestic tasks may be required e.g., shopping, tidying etc.
