Dorset Travel coordinate the transport provision for children and young people with additional needs within Dorset as well as out of county. The team also supply and support transport need for Mainstream, Child Care as well as Adults.
The vacancy is for a Regular Passenger Assistant living in the Swanage Area contracted at approximately 23 hours per week (please note the hours could increase once Passenger Assistant recruited) - Term Time Only commencing at £10.50 per hour
What you will be doing:
The role of a Passenger Assistant is to support children and young people providing additional assistance in maintaining a safe environment on the journey from/to home/school. This vacancy is for a Passenger Assistant from the Swanage Area to support 3 x children with additional needs serving Beaucroft Foundation School, Colehill.
About you:

Dorset Travel is looking for caring, flexible and responsible passenger assistant with an understanding of young people with additional needs.
- Knowledge of moderate and complex learning needs
- An understanding of safeguarding children
- Recognition of a hazard and how to report.
You must be physically fit with the ability to run, bend, stretch, push, pull, lift, carry and kneel to provide the care required for the position of passenger assistant.
Additional Information:
Dorset Travel is also an accredited training centre with experienced and qualified trainers, new staff will be invited onto a full induction training course, providing the tools and knowledge to enable you to work safely and professionally.

Term time only contracts:
We base the pro-rata salary on:
- the number of hours
- the number of weeks worked
- paid annual leave entitlement for an employee under 5 years’ service
In the first year of service this salary may need to be adjusted to ensure you are paid accurately to reflect your holiday entitlement. A similar adjustment may be made at the point your employment ends to ensure that you are paid accurately for the number of days worked in any academic year.
