Wilfred Scruton Ltd is a family-run agricultural machinery dealership which has been established for over 125 years. We are main dealers for some world-class brands including JCB, Valtra, Krone, Amazone and many more. We sell new and used machinery and offer a premium level of aftersales support from our busy workshop and parts departments.
We are looking to recruit an experienced parts salesperson to join our team at our Riccall depot (between York and Selby).
JOB DESCRIPTION
Role: Parts Sales Advisor
Reports to: Riccall Parts Manager
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm, plus some Saturdays 8am - 12 noon
Due to the nature of our business we require employees to work longer hours during peak seasons (typically July to September). Overtime is paid for additional hours worked at a rate of 1.5 times the standard rate of pay. Please enquire for full details.
Role Summary (Key Functions): In the role of Parts Sales Advisor you will be ultimately responsible for ensuring that you provide parts to whoever requests them, in line with any training and Company policy communicated to you.
Typical Activities/Responsibilities will include:
- Responding to enquiries from other areas of the business and from customers
- Identifying, ordering and distributing parts correctly and efficiently
- Ensuring all enquiries are responded to in a timely manner (calls answered, queries followed up)
- Working with the rest of the parts team to make the department presentable and well-organised

Skills and Personal Qualities:
- Good organisational skills, time-management and ability to prioritise
- Good IT skills, to include internet-based parts portals and email plus navigation of Ibcos Gold (training will be provided where necessary)
- Good numeracy and literacy
- Attention to detail in all respects of the role
- A positive and ‘can do’ attitude – must look for ways to resolve difficulties effectually
- Ability to follow instructions from management
- Aptitude to ascertain the specific requirements of customers and colleagues then act upon them appropriately to arrive at the right outcome
- Polite manners and cooperativeness at all times
- An understanding of the industry we work in, recognition of the urgency associated with agriculture and the flexibility that is necessary to deliver excellent service
- Presentable appearance at all times
- Full UK driving licence
Expectations/KPIs:
- Assist the manager and parts team to deliver manufacturer targets
- Ensure that customers’ expectations are surpassed by the service that you deliver
- Upsell to maximise every sales opportunity that comes your way
Environment:
This role is predominantly office based, although there may be a limited amount of time spent away from the premises (delivering parts, working at shows etc).
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £10.00-£14.00 per hour
