Part Time Farm Worker Llandysul, Wales
Job description
We are looking for a part-time worker for our 300 cow spring block calving dairy herd in Rhydlewis. The job is for two days a week and we are flexible about when you worked and which jobs you covered as the existing team can cover other tasks.
This is a part time job in a rural area; you will need your own transport and be punctual and trustworthy. We have no ability to sponsor a visa and as described the job is part time; please do not apply unless you are already resident in the UK, have a right to work here, and have your own transport to the farm. We will provide waterproofs and wellies as we expect high standard of hygiene to maintain biosecurity.
The cows are managed on a simple system with extended grazing. Their winter diet is silage and cake in the parlour; there is no need to deal with rations or different ingredients.
Potential Responsibilities:
- Milking cows in our simple 24:48 herringbone parlour
- Wiping teats for the main milker
- Feeding silage through a wagon
- Scraping yards and bedding down cubicles
Requirements:
- Previous experience in farming is preferred but not essential for those with transferable skills
- Patience and good animal husbandry skills if wanting to milk
- Good levels of hygiene and cleanliness for milking and bedding
- Ability to carefully and safely operate a tractor and scraper/wagon
