Background:
We are a venture capital firm with a wholly innovative approach to investing. In addition to our unique investment approach, we run most of our operations in house and are always updating our processes and systems to ensure we can do things more efficiently whilst maintaining quality.
We’re looking for someone to run our accounts and attached systems. Since the beginning, SyndicateRoom has had strong corporate governance with an experienced board of directors, and the company is looking for an equally high-quality Bookkeeper that will carry out the role to the highest standard.
You will be responsible for standard book keeping activities and reporting, including preparing FCA reports. Experience working with an FCA registered firm is preferable.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Processing of invoices and raising manual payments
- Payroll reporting – analyse payroll provider reports and process pensions each month
- Credit control. Aged debtors – follow up with outstanding invoices and liaise with solicitors when necessary
- Cashflow management
- Monthly Balance Sheet review to ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are updated in a timely manner
- Management & review of departmental spend reports with budget holders
- Ensure reporting submissions i.e.: quarterly VAT returns (partial exempt), FCA reporting (FSA029 030, MIF001 to 004), National Statistics are completed accurate and fully in line with the deadlines
- Lead and main point of contact for external audits
- Support other areas of finance
Requirements:
- AAT or similar with minimum 3 years experience
- Ability to work independently and flexibly
- Highly computer literate and comfortable with online accounting systems (We use Xero but with integrated, invoicing, payment, and expense systems)
- Reliability and working in an organised manner with an eye for detail and respect for governance processes
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets and transforming data
- Building reliable, predictable and scalable processes
- Effective communication abilities (both written and verbal)
- A knowledge of R&D Tax credit for a small company would be desirable
