We’re currently hiring for a Cash Office Assistant at our Stockport depot. The role will include taking payments in various forms from customers within the cash and carry and over the telephone for our delivered customers. You will be working within our enclosed cash point area as part of a key supportive team within the depot, where you will take ownership to ensure the process of a customer’s payment with good attention to detail as you will be dealing with large volumes of cash.
What will you be doing as a Cashier?
- Taking customers payments in an organised and timely fashion
- Taking payments in the form of cash, cheque, card, and online payments
- Counting and dealing with large volumes of cash
- Helping a customer understand their account and payments required
- Taking responsibility for the zone that you work in; this includes ensuring good housekeeping standards are maintained
- Supporting other departments as required
What do you need to be a Cashier?
- Previous experience is advantageous but not a necessity as full training will be provided
- Confident dealing with money
- Experience of cash handling is desirable
- Great with customers and aware of their needs, while being polite and friendly at all times
- Excellent work ethic is required, as well as punctuality and reliability
- Initiative and the capability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Good attention to detail and careful precision to meet targets
- Confidence using computerised equipment for taking payments
- Experienced in the use of MS Word, and Excel are preferred
- To be able to work within our cash office candidates must be 18 years of age or above
What’s on offer?
- Hours of work – 27 hours per week on the following rotas:
- Sunday 08:30 - 16:00
- Monday 10:30 - 15:00
- Tuesday 07:30 - 13:00
- Wednesday 10:00 - 19:30
- Rate of pay: £9.52 to £9.84 per hour
