Job Title: Paralegal to Trainee Solicitor
Reporting to: Head of Department
Supervisory Responsibility: None
This opportunity offers in the first instance a Paralegal role for 12 months and if successful a Trainee contract for 18 months. The initial Paralegal role will take effect from October 2023 (2 places) and April 2024 (2 places).
Paralegal - Purpose of the Role
- To provide cost effective administrative and secretarial support to the partner and other senior fee-earners in the team in the work of the department
- Undertake certain elements of fee-earning work under supervision but not as a designated matter handler
Trainee – Purpose of the Role
- In at least three distinct areas of the law, with experience in both contentious and non-contentious matters the role of a Trainee Solicitor is, although not limited to:-
- Carrying out research and drafting documents for the partner and other senior fee-earners in the team in the work of the department
- Undertaking certain elements of fee-earning work and to conduct proceedings and transactions under the supervision of a qualified solicitor, but not as a designated matter handler
- Attaining a level of competence to SRA and Practical Skills standards working towards qualification as a solicitor
Hours of work & Location:
Manchester & Sale offices
This is a full time office based role

Person Specification
- Knowledge of the procedures relevant to the area of work
- Possess LPC qualification by October 2024
- An effective communicator, both orally and in writing
- Personally efficient and well organised
- Ability to work under own initiative with minimal supervision
- Excellent client care skills, providing an efficient and friendly service
- Proven numeracy and written skills with very good standards of presentation and accuracy
- Strong IT skills, proficient in using Microsoft office for tasks relevant to this role
- Excellent time management, with the ability to multi-task, prioritise and adapt to changing demands
- Enthusiastic attitude and approach to work
- Reliable and dependable with a flexible attitude towards work
- Ability to maintain absolute discretion and a high level of confidentiality
