We are currently recruiting for a Paralegal to assist case handlers in employment tribunal litigation This role will also be closely aligned to working with client on a national basis dealing with in excess of 400 employment tribunal claims a year.

The role is based in our Liverpool office. The candidate will be based at our Liverpool office and will be required to attend the Liverpool office from time to time to meet with colleagues and other business requirements in line with our Hybrid Working Policy. The firm supports and encourages flexible working arrangements

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with Lexcel and internal procedures
  • Assisting case handlers on employment tribunal and early conciliation matters
  • Running own caseload on employment tribunal and early conciliation matters in due course
  • Interaction with clients and third parties, excellent communication skills are therefore required
  • Preparation and copying of hearing bundles
  • Supporting in photocopying/electronic bundling when required
  • File management duties, indexing and collating large case papers; ensuring maintenance of client details and information, on case management system
  • Attending on straightforward case management hearings at tribunal (where appropriate)
  • Closing and archiving files
  • Assisting with client reporting
  • Assisting in establishing and maintaining precedent files for the team
  • All other such administrative and fee earning duties as are appropriate
  • Work in accordance with Weightmans’ values and in line with relevant policies and procedures

About You

You will have previous experience as a Paralegal and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work. As the role is varied, we are looking for you to have a flexible approach to the work you do and be able to adapt to different tasks. We also require you to have:

  • Excellent IT skills
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and targets
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
