Who we are

Nationally, our Commercial Property team has presence in all seven of our offices and consists of approximately 100 fee earners and support staff. Nationally, we have 28 well-regarded Partners and we are continuing to grow.

In Taunton, you will be assisting a team of 10 lawyers working closely with them on a variety of transactions.

The team advise on a wide variety of property related matters for a variety of clients; secured lending, property acquisitions and disposals including property due diligence and real estate finance, property/portfolio management work, and the property aspects of corporate acquisitions disposal and funding.

You will assist with producing reports on title and lease reports in language that our clients will understand, undertake legal research, review and report on conveyancing searches and planning documentation (planning permissions and S106 Agreements) and raise appropriate enquiries with third parties and assist with property due diligence on larger transactions.

Most of our people choose to work in a hybrid fashion, working from home and attending our offices on occasion. Our offices are in Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff, London, Manchester, Southampton, and Taunton.

Day to day, you’ll be successful in this role by:

Undertaking a range of Paralegal duties, to include:

  • Assisting with producing reports on title in language that our clients will understand.
  • Summarising lengthy and sometimes complex title documents and leases into shorter digestible documents.
  • Reviewing conveyancing searches.
  • Assisting more senior members of the team with the drafting of sale and purchase agreements and dealing with completions and post-completion formalities.
  • You will also have the opportunity to get involved with ad hoc projects (small and large) as and when these arise, with the assistance of other members of the team. Each task will be appropriately supervised to enable you to learn quickly and effectively, forever developing your skills as a lawyer.

It is an integral part of this role that you comply with data security and all firm policies and procedures.

This role is right for you if:

You are able to demonstrate real potential, with the talent, ambition and interest to succeed in a career within this field. As a law or GDL graduate, you will already have a good technical grounding in the law with a keen interest in land law and real property. Ideally you will also have completed the LPC.

We would prefer you to have at least 6 months’ experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, within the property sector.

The work requires self-motivation and the ability to work to demanding deadlines, so you’ll need to show us that you have initiative, drive and great organisational skills.

You will be a team player, relish helping others and be eager to learn. We expect you to be someone who takes pride in your work and who will provide a first class support service to your fee earners, anticipating their needs in advance wherever possible, and paying meticulous attention to detail in all of your work.
