Purpose of Role

The role will work as part of a small, multi-functional team split across a 2-shift operation on a 1-week rotation, reporting to a Paint Team Leader.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Understand and follow detailed work instructions relating to the painting of vehicles
  • Ensure that all station operations on each vehicle are completed to the required quality standard
  • Ensure that all operations are completed to the required timescale
  • Work as part of a team on the definition and solution of problems that may be affecting the quality, cost or productivity of the vehicles being produced
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities as requested
  • Understand and adhere to the McLaren Values and help grow the Automotive Brand.
  • Preparing paint spraying equipment
  • Mixing paints to the right colour and consistency
  • Applying several coats to the car, including primers, colours and affect coats.
  • Maintaining and cleaning equipment
  • Storing paints in the correct conditions.
  • Undertake the exterior polishing of vehicles using the correct materials and tools
  • Inspect finished vehicles to ensure no defects, perfect finish every time
  • Flattening, polishing, and touching up
  • The candidate should be confident using all the necessary tools and materials, have experience with or be happy with working in a modern OEM.
  • Ensure there are no defects on work produced
  • Preparing vehicles/ panels for paintwork
  • Masking vehicles in preparation for paintwork.
  • Carrying out minor damage repairs via smart repair process
  • Clean and check cars prior to primer process for visible defect
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Experience of working within an automotive environment would be an advantage.
  • Prior experience of working as part of a team is desirable
  • Prior experience of working to timescales would be advantageous
  • Quality focused with meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to follow processes set in place
  • Experience in Preparing paint spraying equipment is desirable
  • Experience in Mixing paints to the right colour and consistency is an advantage
  • Experience in Applying several coats to the car, including primers, colours
  • Experience in Maintaining and cleaning equipment is desirable
  • Experience Storing paints in the correct conditions is desirable
  • Prior experience of Quality focused with meticulous attention to detail would be an advantage
  • Undertake the exterior polishing of vehicles using the correct materials and tools would be an advantage
  • Prior experience with Inspecting finished vehicles to ensure no defects, perfect finish every time is an advantage
  • Prior experience of flattening, polishing, and touching up is desirable
  • Prior experience of maintaining and cleaning equipment is an advantage
  • Prior experience on ensuring there are no defects on work produced is an advantage
  • Prior experience in Preparing vehicles/ panels for paintwork is desirable
  • Prior experience in Masking vehicles in preparation for paintwork is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in Carrying out minor damage repairs prior to paint would be an advantage.
  • Previous experience in smart repairing would be an advantage
