Packing Systems Technician

Wrexham

Following an internal move we are recruiting an additional Packing Systems Technician to join the current team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • To be accountable for and the Subject Matter Expert of, both the mechanical operation and technical serialisation systems employed within the Ipsen packing facility, ensuring that they operate efficiently and effectively in support of Wrexham packing requirements.
  • Operational support for mechanical and serialisation system performance
  • Direct involvement in on line packing operations to assist in identification and implementation of continuous improvement activities associated with the mechanical and computerised systems.
  • Preparation and maintenance of product recipes, label generation and new product recipes in support of EU, US and Global requirements.
  • SME for vision systems and line settings to optimise article creation and subsequent operation. Techincal expert for serialisation within packing operations.
  • Ownership of packing trials and support of ongoing validation activities as required to introduce new products.
  • Resolution of Serialisation system technical and mechanical operating issues to minimise downtime of the packing lines.
  • Ownership of downtime problems facilitating RCA and quick CAPA to maximise line availability.
  • Liason with external technical experts/contacts on and off site to resolve operating and technical issues.


Additional work to incorporate:

  • Operational SME for ongoing packing electronic data system development
  • To develop and ensure a knowledge base to enable training and support in electronic systems to the wider packing and support team eg EBR, OEE, Line downtime data.
  • Fault investigation and rectification related to mechanical and serialisation systems.
  • Ongoing development of a fault finding /resolution database of training materials with fast access to enable timely resolution.
  • Delivery of the packing plan
  • Troubleshooting of automated and semiautomated packing equipment and associated systems to minimise downtime.
  • To enable consistent delivery of the agreed requirements of the Packing Plan by real time support of Packing serialisation systems and equipment.
  • Liaison with the Team Leader on the performance and improvement of Packing mechanical operation and serialisation systems.
  • Available for support via call out or site attendance where required.


And also:

  • Liaison with system suppliers and Ipsen Automation Team
  • Communication and recommended action on mechanical or serialisation issues/activities/plans to Packing Manager, Team Leader and Automation Team.
  • Effective liaison with System supplier(s) to maintain effective ongoing system development and support.
  • Be the Packing representative for system/software upgrades.
  • Works within GMP / EHS requirements
  • To perform assigned tasks whilst always adhering to current GMP requirements.
  • Report any compliance concerns to your line-manager in the first instance or Quality Assurance Compliance.
  • To always work in a safe manner and raise any Environmental, Health and Safety concerns to your line-manager or the EHS team.
  • Do not perform any tasks you are not trained to complete.
  • Ensure all training is kept up to date and documented by adhering to training plan requirements.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level
  • Minimum 5 years in a Pharmaceutical or similarly regulated industry – or equivalent
  • Serialisation system hardware/software operation including Master data and recipe set up, testing and adjustment
  • Preventive systems maintenance relating to automated packing lines and associated serialisation systems
  • Extensive experience in supporting automated packing lines or working towards a recognised qualification relevant to current packing technology equipment.
  • Minimum 3 years in a Pharmaceutical or similarly regulated industry – or equivalent
  • Packing line/operations including operating and support of computer-controlled equipment relating to serialisation processes and equipment
  • Preventive systems maintenance – preferred but not mandatory

Attributes:

  • Problem solving mentality for mechanical issues arising and /or System Automation and associated operating menus/structures/recipes within a GMP operational environment. Eye for detail – Right First Time.
  • To be accountable for the technical and operational performance of the Automated packing lines and associated Serialisation systems, system maintenance and support future upgrade activities
  • Application of GMP and EHS standards/requirements.
  • Real time planning - responsive to changes in priorities and customer needs.
  • Team player/collaborator – can work alone or with guidance. People-centric, good communicator, mentor and an ability to pass on knowledge through training others.
