An opportunity has arisen in the Refugee Resettlement Service for the role of Refugee Resettlement Support Worker.
The main duties of this post will be to provide practical and emotional support to refugees who may have complex needs who are resettling within the borough of Gateshead. Assisting with issues such as housing, finances, physical/mental health, life skills, accessing ESOL, parenting, personal safety, legal/family reunification issues and employment, whilst promoting independent living. To use effective risk assessment tools to identify risk and undertake the appropriate actions. To complete needs assessments and then develop individual support plans with clients. To work within a multi-agency framework, communicating effectively with colleagues, other professionals and clients ensuring that there is a coordinated response to support. To adhere to performance and monitoring requirements, complying with systems in place to monitor data outcomes. This will include completing support paperwork to a high standard. To adhere to The Gateshead Housing Company policies and procedures regarding working practices and service delivery. This will include; Safeguarding Children and Adults, Health and Safety, Data Protection/Confidentiality and the services Code of Conduct.
It is essential that you:
- Have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s or equivalent at Grade C or above or relevant experience.
- Have experience of working with vulnerable people, assessing need and documenting support.
- Have experience of working within a multi-agency framework
- Have effective communication skills and possess excellent time management skills.
- Have an awareness of the Refugee Resettlement programmes.
- Have working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
- Have knowledge of Data Protection/Confidentiality, safe guarding policies and procedures such as Child Protection, Safeguarding Adults and MARAC.
