Job Description
Porthpean Outdoor Education Centre is now recruiting for awesome people to join our Activity Instruction team. We are inviting applications from anyone with a passion for outdoor education. Full time, part time, senior, and junior roles are all available.
Porthpean OEC is Cornwall's leading outdoor education and activity centre. Based overlooking the stunning St. Austell bay, we offer a fantastically equipped centre with a range of on-site activities, accommodation and dining facilities, plus our own beach. We re-open in May with new investment and exciting plans afoot!
As an Outdoor Activity Instructor at Porthpean OEC, you will deliver a high standard of outdoor programmes to school groups, families, individuals, and community groups. For our centre residentials, you will accompany groups throughout their stay, becoming the fulcrum of their experience at Porthpean, forming bonds and memories that will last a lifetime.

- Climbing walls
- Indoor caving
- Kayaking

- Coasteering
- Mountain biking

But your role at Porthpean OEC will not end there. Teamwork is fundamental to all we do at the centre and so your role will cover all manner of duties to ensure every single guest leaves smiling. Such duties may include offering a helping hand with weekend events or covering a shift in our hire centre.
For those who wish to be considered for a Senior Instructor role, you will lead a team of Instructors in accordance with ratios, supervising your group's safety and enjoyment of the day's activities. You will work closely with the Activities Manager to fine-tune programmes, manage schedules, and carry out safety checks. From our Senior Instructors, we will be appointing a Deputy Activities Manager.
For anyone representing Porthpean OEC, you must be a likeable individual with a warm and upbeat personality to help welcome in the thousands of children and families that stay at our centre every year. You will be responsible, reliable, organised, flexible, and able to provide glowing references.
