Job description
Herdsperson required to take day to day responsibility with milking, scraping and general management of the dairy herd and youngstock. You will work closely with the Farm Manager who will be full time on site.
· 350 cow unit, 11,400 litres, milked twice a day on a rota basis.
· You will be working as part of a large team, so you must be a good team player.
· Approx. 55 hours per week.

The herd supplies milk on a premium contract and must therefore meet the highest welfare and management standards in the country.
A telehandler licence is required but could be obtained in post if necessary.
You must be able to maintain high standards, follow instructions but also be able to think for yourself on day to day topics.
You will regularly milk the cows yourself to ensure you have a good understanding of the herd and are able to spot issues as soon as they arise. Ideally, you will complete at least 7 milkings per week yourself.
We expect you to have significant experience of working with dairy herds and an empathy with livestock so you can pick out off colour stock early before they become ill.
This is a direct employed job, not agency.
