Herds person
At Goodwin Farms, we are 5th generation dairy farmers, milking 1,200 cows across three units, calving predominantly in an autumn block. We farm 1,400 acres, foraging all our own winter feed, including silage and maize. All replacements are home reared, on separate, specialist sites. We pride ourselves on being an enthusiastic, passionate, with a dedicated team.
We are looking for the right candidate to join our highly skilled team, who shows the same passion for the diary industry as we do. We are seeking an individual who takes pride in their work, has a good work ethic, is reliable and has good time keeping skills. You will need to be able to work as part of a team, and communicate well with your colleagues, however working alone will be part of the role too.
The specific requirements of the job are:
- Milking in a modern herringbone, swing-over parlour
- Herd husbandry
- Maintaining cow health and welfare
- AI and foot trimming (training can be provided if necessary)
- Other general farm roles that aid the smooth day to day running of the farms
The ideal candidate for our vacancy will have some knowledge/experience of the dairy industry, however, we are dedicated to providing appropriate training to enhance your professional development, skill set and help you to progress within the business, if desired.
Position: Full time
Salary: Competitive salary, based on experience and attitude towards work
Working schedule: Every other weekend off and the option for a weekday off—working schedule can be discussed further upon application
Location: Farms are located near the village of Audlem, which has amenities including shops, pubs, cafes and a ‘Good’ Ofsted rated school.
