The Post:

The role of the Clinical and Protecting Health Directorate is to protect the people of Scotland from infectious and environmental hazards; enable high-quality clinical and public health knowledge, research and innovation; and change clinical and public health practice by using audits at a national and local level.

The Clinical and Protecting Health Directorate is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and dynamic Organisational Leads, who will provide leadership to our national immunisation and screening programmes, with a focus on confidence, informed consent and equity.

The Candidate:

This role requires demonstrable leadership and management abilities to control the resources, budget and staffing required to deliver the objectives of the programme area. We are seeking a candidate with strong communication and interpersonal skills who has the ability to lead the development and delivery of multifaceted work designed to reduce health inequalities and improve population health in relation to programme area. The successful applicant will demonstrate a record of success in planning, operational delivery and partnership working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

There is currently a 1 WTE post (37.5 hours per week) for immunisation and 0.5 WTE post to be filled (18.75 hours per week) for screening, should additional vacancies occur within 6 months, candidates who were not successful at this time, but appointable at interview, may be contacted within this time period to be offered a post.

Location and Working Pattern:

The post is based in either Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Meridian Court, Glasgow. Public Health Scotland operate a hybrid model, working both at home and in the office.

There will be an expectation to travel to local areas for some meetings and events.

Salary placement will start at the bottom point of the scale unless individuals have previous NHS experience.
During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need, you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, in order to meet the needs of the service.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PHS.
