Opened in November 1993, this profitable business is now in the initial stages of relocation where the new store will be modernised and refurbished even further. The current premises spans 3 floors, with 6 spacious test rooms and serves as a spoke store to Lancaster hub. Specsavers in Barrow pride themselves in ensuring that every one of their customers receives an excellent patient experience. The high levels of service and patient care have led to numerous positive customer reviews and an excellent local reputation. All the test rooms are fully equipped with the latest clinical technology including OCT, meaning you'll have everything you need to perform sight tests to the highest possible standards. We offer enhanced clinical services including EOS appointments, MECs, Paediatric refraction for the hospital and post cataract operation assessments. A team of 24 dedicated and experienced colleagues call this store home. The existing partners are really passionate about the clinical development of the team, and as the new Optometry Director you would have the scope to advise on training requirements, introduce new specialisms and build/shape the team further as required. Store location Barrow-in-Furness is a port town in Cumbria. Although it is at the end of a peninsula, it's only around 20 minutes from the Lake District and has been referred to as a 'gateway to the lakes'. Historically, a shipbuilding town, today Barrow manufactures submarines with BAE Systems and is home to the new class nuclear submarine which is planned to be designed and constructed in Barrow. The town centre is a popular shopping destination and has many retail and leisure parks in the vicinity including a kart racing track, skate park and cinema complex. Barrow also has its own football, cricket and rugby clubs as well as sailing and golf clubs. There are excellent transport links; a railway station 10 minutes' walk from the store where a train will take you to Manchester in around 2 hours. There are a number of roads that run through and around the town, allowing convenient access to the M6 motorway as well as regular bus services that run to the adjacent towns in the area. Requirements of the role Alongside being a qualified and GOC registered Optometrist, you'll need to share the store's ethos. They're looking for someone who wants to grow and develop the team, offer exceptional customer care and improve patient outcomes. You'll be a practitioner who prides themself on their clinical judgment, isn't afraid of a hands-on approach, and someone who is keen to get involved and build a rapport with their team.
