Job description
Operations Support Manager
We are looking for an Operations Support Manager to support to the operations team to ensure that our key retail controls and performance expectations are met. Specific responsibility will be the planning, undertaking and reporting of site audits at our pubs and hotels. These audits, together will delivery of ongoing help and support, provide Operations with valuable insight to enable our pubs to meet our financial targets and offer a best-in-class experience to customers. This is a field-based role, requiring presence across Young’s estate; so a driver is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Perform a programme of daily site-wide retail audits (up to four per week) comprising:
- A liquor stock count with review and analysis of results and investigation of material variances.
- Verification of accurate cash holding.
- A detailed review of kitchen management tasks to identify compliance with stock management and food safety policies.
- Proactively identify improvements to support P&L performance throughout the pub.
- A written report, providing clear results and action plans to address deficiencies.
- Present to the relevant Director of Operations and Operations Managers monthly audit results and lead open discussion for ongoing challenges and forthcoming areas of focus.
- Act as a nominated support partner for a specific Ops Division in stock management responding to technical queries and delivering training as required.
- Undertake any other duties deemed reasonable and within the scope of the job, at the Company’s request.

- Strong numerical and analytical skills, inquisitive nature, and prepared to challenge assumptions. Thorough and systematic approach to solving problems.
- Diligent organisational skills, able to prioritise workload to deliver timely reports.
- Good communication, both verbal and written, to deliver clear and succinct conclusions to your work.
- Experience and in cellar management, food safety and kitchen management.
- Knowledge of Young’s key IT applications including Yes Chef, Stocklink, Alert365 and Clarity. Good user of MS office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc).
