Airbus Helicopters is the world’s largest helicopter manufacturer and the company’s site at Oxford Airport is Britain’s civil helicopter hub.
AHUK offers considerable experience in helicopter sales, bespoke completions, maintenance and spares support. Its in-house engineering capabilities include design, customisation, installation, flight-testing and certification, as well as technical support, maintenance, training and the supply of spares for civil and military applications.
AHUK is the MoD’s chosen provider of helicopters and maintenance for its Defence Helicopter Flying school (referred to as MFTS) located in RAF Shawbury (Shropshire) and RAF Valley (Anglesey).
Description/Overall purpose of the Job
The selected candidate will join the AHUK Installations and Production team. From design concept through all stages of engineering and finally to manufacture and installation, our dedicated turnkey development centre transforms customer requirements into bespoke, high quality solutions which include complex prototype development, retrofit and series production for a diverse range of global customers. We are looking for an undergraduate to review the current undocumented procedure for some of our serialisation projects and create documented processes. You do not need to have a specific interest in aviation but should be passionate in wanting to produce work of a high standard and at finding ways to improve processes.
You will have the opportunity to develop your communication and investigative skills across multiple departments. Creating end to end business solutions that directly influence the productivity of the Installation and Production department. You’ll also assist in developing innovations that bring value and benefit to the team and our customers.
During the internship the successful candidate will be involved in a very exciting period for AHUK as we prepare to move and then move into our new facility on Oxford airport in the summer of 2024
Main responsibilities
Work with the existing teams to make a full review of current processes
To create documented processes that can be worked to, to ensure repeatability.
To review current methods and processes and come up with ways for improvements for
lead time, cost and efficiency.
We would be looking for the review to cover and recommend a variety of improvements
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
Familiar with Microsoft Office suite
Knowledge of Google G Suite
A liking for analytical work
Ability to work on multiple projects and with multiple stakeholders
An enquiring mind who will challenge the norm and question why we are doing the work in a particular way
Education, Qualifications or Training
Essential
An undergraduate currently studying for a degree. The degree does not need to be in an Aerospace discipline, but must be relevant to the work described. The candidate must have a requirement to complete an internship as part of their studies and be eligible for an internship.
Desirable
Full UK driving licence
Be located within easy commuting distance from Oxford Airport

Due to the nature of this position you will require DBS Security Clearance and be eligible for SC clearance.
Applicants must meet any/all requirements of Export Compliance Regulations.
Be able to work 37.5 hours a week Mon-Fri in Kidlington, Oxfordshire.
Must be flexible in terms of working hours if needed
Must have the right to work in the UK under a student visa
