About the role
The New Supply Verticals team is at the forefront of innovating how Uber unlocks new opportunities to bring drivers onto the Uber platform! It operates as the innovation/’big bets’ arm of the Driver Operations team, launching and growing alternative and new products as well as new operating models which support Uber’s supply position.
The role will report to the UK’s lead for New Supply Verticals and involves cross functional work to assess, recommend and implement new opportunities. This will involve working closely with our Global Hailables team, as well as Product, Marketing, Rider, Marketplace Legal, Policy, Compliance and Tax. A significant requirement of the role is around adaptability and flexibility, due to the broad scope of work and diverse nature of projects you will be involved in. An average week could involve, validating and shaping the value proposition of a product, quantifying a risk associated with an operational change, researching the root cause of a change to our business metrics, forecasting the financial impact of a product launch, solving a complicated problem which has impact across multiple teams, making a recommendation on a commercial decision.
What you will do:
- Deliver Go to Market Analysis: Using research, shared findings and experimentation you will form and recommend strategies and tactics which will enable the success of new products
- Analytics and reporting: Use data analysis, business modeling, financial forecasting, statistical techniques and experimentation to improve decision making and impact business outcomes
- Strategic thinking: Make recommendations and decisions with an understanding of how they align to the broader business and Uber’s long term goals
- Marketplace analysis and tracking: Ensure full understanding of how new products or changes are performing by creating dashboards which share insights to inform improvement opportunities
- Problem solving: Work across teams to navigate operational, product or regulatory guardrails which require innovative and tailored solutions
- Cross-functional collaboration: Engage with functions across the business including policy, communications, product, engineering, marketing, legal and customer support
- Project management and execution: Plan and run multiple projects and be able to implement in a constantly evolving, complex environment
- Product launch support: Collaborate closely with our product and engineering teams to test and roll out launches or changes
- Flexible and adaptable approach to working: Your focus may shift quarter to quarter as the projects you’re working on move with the direction of our business
What you will need:
- Min 3 years of experience in strategy and operations coming from industries such as management consulting, technology, manufacturing, logistics or transport
- Experience with identifying, building and improving operational processes
- Operational problem solver; able to quickly get to the essence of complex problems and develops pragmatic solutions
- Strong stakeholder management skills with experience working with seniors and cross-functional teams in large organisations in developing and operationalise initiatives
- Data-driven decision mentality and sound business judgment through excellent analytical thinking. SQL proficiency required
- Strong communication and comfortable sharing information formally or informally with senior audiences; ability to translate quantitative findings into action plans
- Excellent planning and organization skills and strong project management
- Creative approach with an anything is possible attitude and a passion for innovative projects
