Job description
About us
Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We know that homelessness is not inevitable. We know that together we can end it.
This is an exciting and important time to be joining us at Crisis! We work with thousands of people across England, Scotland and Wales so they can leave homelessness behind for good. We have recently adapted the way our services work to maximise our impact in ending homelessness. We have increased our capacity to work with people one-to-one and strengthened our ability to support those people facing the most barriers to preventing or ending their homelessness.
Hours: 35 Per Week
Location: Based in our Skylight Edinburgh office
About the role
As Operations Manager - General, you will play an important part in supporting Crisis’s mission of ending homelessness. Using a strengths-based approach you will proactively lead a team of coaches to resolve and prevent homelessness. You will, in partnership with the wider management team, play a key role in the transition and development of our Engagement and Assessment, Strengths and Assets, and Coaching services, as we move to our new HQ in central Edinburgh. Crisis Skylight Edinburgh is committed to partnership working, and the Operations Manager will also contribute to building strong collaborative relationships across voluntary and statutory sector partners.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have
Experience of leading on the delivery of high-quality advice, guidance and support in a homelessness, or related, environment
An understanding of the barriers to accessing appropriate housing faced by people experiencing homelessness and the approaches to overcoming them.
Knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation guidance and processes in a Scottish context.
An understanding of relationship-based and psychologically informed approaches to working with marginalised and excluded groups.
A background in using a coaching approach to managing performance.
You may also have experience in leadership or management in homelessness, addictions, housing, family support or equivalent work with marginalised people in the voluntary or statutory sector.
We believe diversity is a strength, and our aim is to make sure that Crisis truly reflects the communities we serve. We are actively working towards our organisation being a place where everyone can thrive and make their best contribution to our mission of ending homelessness for good. We know that the more perspectives, voices, and experiences we can bring to this work, the better. We particularly welcome applications from people who have lived experience of homelessness, and people from all marginalised groups, communities and backgrounds.
