We are looking for an Operations Manager – Construction & Structures to join our Construction team. The purpose of this role is to manage the operational performance of the Structures & Construction project & test laboratory, via the leadership and management of the resources necessary to complete right first time, and within budget. The role will require collaboration with the Business Manager, ensuring that scopes of work for projects are translated into work packages for the engineers at site by the Technical manager.
The incumbent will liaise extensively with a variety of stakeholders and colleagues and therefore will require a collaborative, team player approach. This must be combined with a desire to work in a results-oriented environment and a capability to develop high level and long-term business relationships within our client base.
Essential attributes include an understanding of construction and structural materials, and applications alongside knowledge of hydraulic, electro-mechanical methods, with a strong people management and organisational skill set, exceptional communication skills, and a strong work ethic
Numeracy and financial acumen to manage the P&L responsibility and drive the successful growth of this capability is essential.
Accountabilities:
- Ensure translation of scopes into appropriate, clear and concise packages to enable engineers and technicians to complete
- Overall Management of the entire team of engineers and technicians (currently ~ 20)
- Consistently achieve budget expectations for revenue delivery and margin
- Through personal and team activities, drive additional efficiencies from operating methods and highlighting investments to improve performance
- Work collaboratively with the Technical Consultant teams to develop and commercialise successful new services of scale, aligned with prevailing Lucideon business strategy
- Ensuring that Lucideon pricing and margin requirements are correctly met and ultimately achieved on client proposals, as well as adherence to Delegated Authority criteria
- Provide effective management information and reporting on the capability performance
- Such other duties as may be reasonably required by the Company
Qualifications: Financial and operational relevant qualifications alongside engineering qualifications in construction or mechanical engineering.
Experience: Demonstrable experience within a service business preferably construction / building / testing industries:
- Proven track record of strong people and operational management
- Experience in a technology consultancy would be advantageous.
- Experience of cell-based testing / manufacture / operations
Knowledge/Skills:
- Senior level management and people leadership skills,
- Demonstrate competence in the “four pillars” of leadership – technical/operational, people, financial and commercial.
- Credible and with high levels of gravitas for senior-level negotiations with clients.
- Ability to work in a “one team” manner to resolve any challenges that arise internally or externally.
- Exceptional communication skills both written and oral at all levels of seniority.
