About The Role

As an Operations Manager you will lead, coordinate, and support an operational service team comprising of technicians, coordinators, technical leads, and contractors who work on the Thames Water trunk main and distribution network. Your team will be offering support to deliver network maintenance, and ensuring accurate, calibrated, and verified instrumentation.

You will play a key role in helping Thames Water to meet its performance commitments and ODIs.

You will build strong relationships with your team, our category managers and framework suppliers to ensure they deliver a world class service, demonstrating best practice in health and safety as well as value for money.

You will do this by supporting the network maintenance team to ensure technical services are delivered to the highest standards, driving the team to deliver KPI’s and ensure service level agreements are being met.

You will also engage regularly with key stakeholders in the leakage, system operations, delivery, and regional network teams as well as in asset and engineering.

As the Operations Manager you will be a good communicator, fostering an engaged culture within your team and ensuring that all employees have regular 121’s and development.

Key relationships and interactions

Stakeholder engagement both internal and external is key to success within this role. Driving the development and continuous improvement of the project team and supply chain.

Other responsibilities will include.

  • Relentlessly striving to deliver enhanced health, safety & environment outcomes, customer delight and superior commercial performance
  • Engagement with regional network teams and the delivery team to support on delivering critical maintenance and asset availability within SLA’s agreed with the team.
  • You will work with both internal stakeholders such as the commercial team, network operations, water production, system operations, asset engineering and network asset maintenance to delivery outputs associated with the programmes.
  • Your role will also require you to work with several external stakeholders such as our regulator, DWI, local and highways authorities and various other groups as required in the delivery of the programme of works.

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Previous working experience in people management experience with strong skills in any of the following areas: operations, maintenance, engineering, finance, H&S legislation, stakeholder engagement or customer focus.
  • A project management qualification or experience in water network operations would be beneficial or desire to work towards a project management qualification.
  • Able to demonstrate ability to deliver projects or programmes to meet both commercial and technical objectives.
  • Ability to analyse data and make decisions on partial information.
  • Good project planning, estimating and financial forecasting skills. IT literate
