The Role:
The Operations Manager will lead a team of circa 70 drivers whilst deliveringsafe, robust and effective systems and processes throughout, ensuring thatoperational controls are in place and managed effectively for safety, legalcompliance, optimised customer service, cost effectiveness and resourceproductivity.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strongmanagement and leadership with effective coaching and mentoring to create ahighly motivated and results focused workforce with a commitment to deliveringservice excellence for customers
- Stringentunderstanding and adherence to all compliance & SSHEQ requirements,ensuring the Companys exemplary safety culture is upheld and enforced.Effectively communicating with all key stakeholders both internally andexternally, to ensure up to date and accurate information is deliveredthroughout
- Effectivemanagement and development of the Driver Workforce to ensure that all driversare fully trained, competent and are capable of carrying out their duties andresponsibilities safely and effectively.
- Build strongcustomer relationships and introduce innovative solutions to demonstrate how weadd value to customer operations
- Directresponsibility for SSHEQ performance, Incident Reporting and IncidentManagement for your depot
Required Experience:
- An effectivecommunicator, capable of setting standards and delivering performance throughothers
- Ideally Nationalor International CPC Holder
- Successful,proven background in the Transport & Logistics sector
- Extensiveexperience of managing a transport operation
- Experience inmanaging SQAS, ISO, FORS & DVSA Earned Recognition accreditations
- Proficient ITSkills, specifically in Microsoft Excel
- Understanding oftransport legislation and drivers hours rules, both UK and EU
- Developing andimplementing HSE and quality assurance processes and procedures
- Experienceworking with, and managing, internal and external sub-contractors
- Working with andmanaging a unionised workforce

serving the chemicals, gas, fuels, waste, and powders sectors for over 90 years, and is the largest chemical transporter in the UK.
We have a fleet of 8,000 tank containers, 500 trucks, and 700 trailers. We carry out 170,000+ shipments per year - that equates to a delivery every 3 minutes!
