About the Role
The primary role of the operations manager is to manage and coordinate all aspects in the day-to-day functionality of the practice regarding staff, patient services, premises and health and safety management. The post-holder will have responsibility for motivating and managing staff, optimising their efficiency, and monitoring overall performance ensuring that objectives are achieved within a safe and effective environment.
The Operations Manager is expected to deputise in the absence of the practice manager and assistant practice manager.
- Management of all patient services matters relating to the day-to-day operation of practice
- Management of confidentiality agreements for all visitors e.g. contractors and temporary staff, and to record them appropriately
- Managing contractors for services agreed regarding regular maintenance of practice premises e.g. utilities, gardening, windows, etc.
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the practice, supporting IT functions, and ensuring staff achieve their primary responsibilities escalating any concerns to senior management as required
- Providing leadership and guidance to all staff ensuring that they always adhere to policy and procedure
- Overseeing the administrative elements of QOF, liaising with all staff to reach targets and report any concerns regarding achievement
- Implementing systems to ensure compliance with CQC regulations and standards
- Management of all processes relating to ensuring premises and equipment are reviewed and safe, serviced, certificated, maintained and available in a timely manner and in accordance with relevant legislations
- Monitoring compliance with health and safety legislation, being point of contact for and providing direction for staff
- Escalating issues to senior management, as appropriate
About the Candidate
- Working in a healthcare setting
- Working with the public
- Performance management, including appraisal writing, staff development and disciplinary procedures
- Relevant health and safety
- Educated to at least A-level or equivalent, or have relevant experience
- Leadership and/or management qualification
- Communication skills
- IT skills e.g. SystmOne, Microsoft and generic
- Ability to prioritise, delegate and work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Effective time management
- Ability to network and build relationships
- Ability to implement and embed policy and procedure
- Ability to motivate and train staff

As a GP surgery, we treat all minor illness and medical conditions, referring patients to hospitals and other medical services for urgent and specialist treatment.
