Operations Manager (High Speed)

Who we are
Network Rail High Speed Ltd. (NRHS) is responsible for operating and maintaining the UKs only international high-speed railway, High Speed (HS1).
The 109km HS1 infrastructure consists of a diverse range of railway assets such as the track, signalling, overhead line, lineside buildings, depots, viaducts and long tunnels. NRHS is also responsible for operating and maintaining three international stations; St Pancras, Ebbsfleet and Stratford International.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd, NRHS is privately financed under an agreement with our client HS1 Ltd, undertaking a diverse range of activities from railway infrastructure maintenance and operations - through to station facilities management and retail on behalf of our client.

The role
We are looking for an Operations Manager to have management responsibility for the delivery of an optimal and safe service within High Speed 1 (in accordance with the track access contracts) through effective management and leadership of the Ashford Control Centre (ACC)
You will also have responsibility for the development of contingency planning and performance management, in collaboration with key stakeholders.
You will deputise for the Head of Operations, lead and direct the operations team (which include Shift Managers, Signallers and Electrical, Mechanical, Management Information Systems (EMMIS) Controllers) and act as a role model and mentor, whilst also progressing agreed development plans to enhance team performance.

About the role (External)
So, who are we looking for? If you meet all of the essential criteria below, then we look forward to receiving your application. Do you have:
- Experience of (and skilled in) leadership and the development of people?
- Experience and competence in Network Rail High Speed operational management?
- Competent in Network Rail High Speed operating rules and regulations?
- Knowledge of the HS1 route?
- The ability to understand financial systems and budgetary tools?
- Experience in managing customer needs and requirements?
- Experience in dealing with Employee Relations?
- IT skills in relation to report writing and internal performance monitoring.
Although it isnt essential, it would be an added bonus if you had experience of working with TVM 430 operating systems.
The important stuff
The role will be based at Ashford, Kent - however frequent travel to our other office and site locations along the High Speed line is expected.

£53,202 - £59,853.
