Overview
2fawcett are recruiting for a UK Operations Manager to join our long-standing client in Wincanton on a full time, permanent basis. The Operations Manager will ensure day to day management and monitoring of operational results and processes and support the design of the ideal manufacturing footprint, including costs, quality, health & safety, environmental, profitability, investments, annual budget processes, regular departmental reviews, and people & organisation management with key stakeholders.
Role & Responsibilities
- Full responsibility of the operation budget and KPI’s, devolved to all direct reports
- Design and implement plans for the effective use of material and labour resources to achieve manufacturing targets
- Manage the operations of manufacturing personnel to ensure manufacturing process is within budget and time

- Oversee the hiring, orienting, and training of all Operational employees to ensure a competent workforce
- Ensure all operations employees are following Quality, health & safety, and environmental standards
- Drive sustainability to meet organisational and regional goals
- Schedule the maintenance of production equipment and machines to ensure efficient operations
- Assessments mechanical and procedural limitations that minimize work efficiency working with the quality and
- engineering departments
- Assess current maintenance work processes, to optimise efficiency, oversee, manage maintenance procedures and
- operations
- Work closely with the Supply Chain function to drive efficiencies & innovation through internal and external
- expertise to meet the changing future environment
- Oversee the planning of the plant to drive efficiency
- Oversee product storage, handling, and distribution internally and externally
- Collaborate with marketing, PD&I and sales to develop strategies aimed at improving the marketability of
- manufactured products
- Monitor performance and develop a strong succession plan at all levels
Requirements of the Operations Manager
- Progressive experience in Manufacturing Operation, Supply chain, Organization & People Management
- Relevant managerial qualifications
- A customer-focused, hands-on leader with experience in building and sustaining strong pier level external relationships with key suppliers as well as coaching the organization internally to drive performance
- Lean and/or SixSigma education
- Demonstrated success in organisational end to end supply chain capacity building, including fiscal management and budgeting, managing relations with internal & external customers
- Strong project management skills managing complex, multi-faceted projects and successfully operationalizing innovative programs resulting in measurable successes and program growth
