Our Asset Management Advisory (AMA) team works with major public and private sector entities across all sectors but principally those with major capital and infrastructure commitments in Natural Resources, Energy, Power & Utilities, Transport, Oil and Gas, Defence and Health and Education. This is a fast-growing area offering exciting opportunities building upon a global capability in Asset Management and covers all aspects of the asset lifecycle from transaction due diligence and investor assurance to strategic asset and investment planning, and business transformation and efficiency.

We are seeking an Industry leading strategic Asset Management professional to support all AMA activity across the business including Operating Model Transformation, Strategy and Planning, Internal Audit, Transactions, Risk and Technology.

Services provided by the AMA Team include:
  • Transaction due diligence and investor assurance of asset performance
  • Strategic asset investment planning including business plan support
  • Asset organisation, efficiency programmes and operating model transformation
  • Analytics and asset management improvement programmes
  • Network/service resilience and maintenance planning
  • Internal audit, assurance, and peer review of key business processes
  • Data and technology advisory services for the asset lifecycle


The Role
As an Assistant Manager in our team you will be able to demonstrate an aptitude for providing advisory services. You will be responsible, amongst other things, for:
  • The creation and development of key deliverables working within a KPMG project team
  • Helping to manage the day-to-day relationship with relevant client contacts and ensuring our service is responsive to their needs
  • Managing the delivery of work to clients within your specialist areas to appropriate quality standards
  • Ensuring KPMG's quality and risk management procedures are completed to the appropriate standard
  • Helping to identify potential opportunities for new assignments where KPMG can assist clients and assisting on proposals and other business development initiatives
  • Pro-actively keeping up to date with specific (technical) developments affecting your work and developing an industry specific network both within and outside KPMG
  • Being a role model for less experienced staff and for the firm's values

The Person

We are looking for someone who is dynamic, able to work at pace and provide practical solutions across the broad services we provide and has a real can-do attitude. The ability to deal with ambiguity and to put in place frameworks and structure to address this is essential along with good communication skills. Quality is key so a track record of delivery high quality outputs is essential.

Strategic infrastructure asset and investment management is desirable with technical experience likely to come from an asset, project and/or business or management background from asset intensive organisations, or an appropriate management consultancy.

Essential Requirements:
  • Experience focusing on realising the strategic value of asset management at enterprise level and not just the engineering/operational level application and experience engaging with board level representatives in this area.
  • Understanding and assessment of operating models and end to end process for asset management and capital delivery for asset intensive organisations
  • Life-cycle decision-making and the ability to manage and direct the creation of strategic asset management plans, business plans, capital programmes or maintenance regimes
  • Assessing and managing risks at both a service/network level and an asset level.
  • Experience in one or more key sectors of Natural Resources, Energy, Power & Utilities, Transport, Oil and Gas, Defence and Health and Education


Desirable
  • Asset resilience, transaction due diligence and maintenance management experience
  • Techniques for whole-life costing and accounting
  • Relevant advisory / consulting / assurance experience
  • It would also be an advantage if the individual had practical experience of providing advisory services and if the individual had worked across a number of sectors.
