Operations Management Graduate
This exciting role has the opportunity to fast-track your career in Operations Management, working closely with the Works Manager to transform our busy and successful engineering business into a best-in-class production environment. You will be involved in all aspects of operations of the business, giving you a solid grounding in production, engineering, commercial, finance and quality. This will be a hands-on role from the outset, where you making a real difference to the business while learning the underpinning skills needed to be a senior leader within the Manufacturing Engineering sector.
In the first 12 months of your role, you will focus on co-ordinating and improving the production management processes of our Machining facility. You will be responsible for providing the shopfloor teams with their production activities for the day, ensuring that product flows smoothly around the factory. You will be a key contact point for our production teams, supporting and motivating them as well as resolving issues and bottlenecks to maximise output. You will lead continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen our processes and improve performance against our Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
We are looking for a candidate with a proactive and can-do attitude, who has the confidence to take the initiative and make decisions on the shopfloor. They will need an eye for detail and be able to see projects through to successful completion. They will be able to demonstrate strong project management skills that will be essential for production management and, ideally, have some experience of managing people. They will bring analytical and problem-solving skills that they have developed through their degree to strategically evaluate how we can improve the business.
Graduates must demonstrate the following minimum criteria:
- Relevant Business Management or Engineering Degree (or equivalent)
- Evidence of project management skills
- A strong “can do” attitude and ability to appreciate the wider business context
- Self-starter and ability to work unsupervised
- Ability to think “outside of the box”
- The right to work in the UK
- Resourcefulness and flexibility
- Have a desire to work in a fast-paced organisation
- A desire to work within a precision engineering environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Good communications skills (verbal and written)
- Good IT skills and ability to use business appropriate software
Desired criteria, but not essential would include:
- Time spent in industry (preferably within a manufacturing environment)
Remuneration & Benefits
- Annual Salary up to £32,000 depending on qualifications and experience

- Core hours are as follows: Mon/Thursday 8am to 5pm Friday 8am to 1pm.
