About the TeamOperations Insight Analysts are responsible for supporting the Operations team with reporting, analysis and insight to help them better understand current state and drivers of change.
The Operations team has three primary purposes:
- Working with Ocado Group to deliver KPIs across Supply Chain, CFCs and Service Delivery
- Drive operational change to benefit either the customer and/or deliver financial savings
- Acts as a stakeholder for Ocado Group on their key project
Example projects
- Understanding the drivers of delivery-slot booking conversion
- Recommendations for the optimum SKU discount levels on flash sale to minimise margin loss from purge
- Reducing our lost sales by understanding the drivers of customers late-canceling their order and “customer not in”
- Modelling the cost savings of suppliers delivering to a consolidator and recommending which ones to trial.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Form a strong working partnership with the wider Operations team and key stakeholders in Group (who often have access to required datasets).
- Strong stakeholder management and communication on workload progress, targets and obstacles is key
- Develop area expertise, understanding drivers of operational performance, and help shape the team’s weekly actions and long-term priorities to have the greatest impact
- Write SQL queries to manipulate and extract data from our Google BigQuery and Oracle databases
- Analyse data to draw out the commercial implications, and present recommendations to stakeholders in an engaging way to guide key decision-making.
- Develop and maintain a suite of reports to enable the self-serving of data among stakeholders.
- Act as a subject matter expert with other Insight teams when projects overlap with other business areas.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Essential:
- Strong experience as an analyst
- Experience in presenting analytics-driven output to wide-ranging audiences
- Ability to drive projects forward and deliver to plan
- The ability to communicate and influence at all levels
- Excellent Excel skills
- Numerate or Technical Degree (2:1 and above)
- Mathematics A Level (or equivalent) Grade A or above
- Preferred:
- Proven experience of data mining using SQL (Oracle and BigQuery)
- Experience in a retail, e-commerce or FMCG consumer-facing business
- Experience with data visualisation software such as Tableau
- Familiarity with Google’s wider data ecosystem (e.g. Google Cloud Storage, AutoML)
- Knowledge of VBA
- Experience of R or Python
