Claremont Hospital are currently looking for a perm part time Ward Host/Hostess to join their team working in the Catering department. The successful candidate will work on an ad hoc, as and when needed basis for example to cover sickness and annual leave. Shifts are typically 7am-1pm or 1pm-7pm and could fall on any day of the week.
The role will involve working as a member of the catering team providing excellence of customer service to patients, their relatives, Hospital users and colleagues in the Catering Department.
The successful candidate will have strong customer service skills and will be able to evidence that they can work effectively during busy periods.

Job description
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- To undertake duties in relation to the selection, sales, preparation, cooking and serving of food including the cleanliness of premises related to these functions.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills with patients, relatives, Hospital users and colleagues.
- To demonstrate behaviour and attitudes appropriate to a professional working environment and which promote the ethos of the Hospital Management Trust and Claremont Hospital.
- At all times maintain own working environment in a clean, neat and decluttered manner and adhere to Infection Prevention procedures and practices to as to proactively contribute to the protection of patients, visitors, and staff from acquiring a healthcare associated infection.
- To be adaptable, flexible, and responsive to the changing needs of the Hospital.
- To be committed to own individual personal development in order to service the business needs of the Hospital.
- At all times treat patients, their relatives, visitors, users and colleagues with dignity and respect maintaining confidentiality and delivering a service which meets customer needs and satisfaction.

- To adhere to and participate in the Hospital’s attainment of standards with regards to Care Standards Act, Food Hygiene/Hazard Analysis, Health & Safety legislation and any other legislative or good practice guidelines that may be promulgated from time to time.
- To assist in conjunction with nursing and medical staff individual patient’s dietary selections as appropriate to their treatment plan, or dietary or food restrictions.
- To deliver as required food and beverage service to patients, their relatives, visitors, users and colleagues.
- To be responsible for the preparation, cooking and service of breakfast.
- To assume delegated responsibility for food service within the Hospital’s restaurant as required.
- As delegated to participate in the preparation, cooking and service of food and beverages and the cleanliness of the facilities and equipment utilised in these functions.
- To participate in the ordering and storage of food stuffs, supplies and sundry items.
- To be responsible for the sale and serving of food within the Hospital restaurant and to ensure that it is maintained in a state that is conducive to achieving the satisfaction of restaurant users.
- To provide food and beverage services to consultants utilising the Out-patients consulting suite.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential:
- Educated to GCSE/ O Level in English and Mathematics
- Good customer care and communication skills
- Able to work alone or part of a team
- Have the ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting demands during busy periods in the kitchen
- Good customer care
- Working within a fast paced catering environment
- Experience of working in line with food hygiene guidelines
- Calm and polite

- Enthusiastic and positive with a willingness to learn
Desirable:
- World Host or similar Customer care experience/Qualification.
- Level 1 Food safety Qualification
- Previous catering experience
- Experience of working within a healthcare environment
