Operations Excellence Manager – Crewe, Cheshire
  • £40,000 - £50,000 per annum (depending on experience and skillset)
  • Monday to Friday 8.30-5.00

The Operational Excellence Manager will provide leadership and drive for continuous improvement projects at our bread production site based in Crewe, Cheshire. The factory makes chilled speciality bread such as sliced baguettes, hand-crafted flatbreads and dough balls and employs over 375 people in the factory and over 50 in its Crewe Distribution Centre. The site is located approximately 4 miles from Crewe town centre.

Reporting directly into our Head of Operations, you will work alongside Senior Managers to analyse production, wastage and other performance data streams to prioritise, plan and action process improvements to reach agreed targets. You will also take ownership of Performance Improvement Plans and ensure that they are delivered to agreed objectives.

Duties will include

  • Shaping and deploying the Bakkavor Operating System into site ways of working. The Bakkavor Operating System represents standard processes, tools / techniques and behaviours that support the manufacture of products, creating value for the company and customers (to include Redzone Productivity Module).
  • Deployment of MCRS (part of the Bakkavor Operating System).
  • Shaping and deploying standard Management Control & Reporting Structure (MCRS) across balance score of card metrics into all functions and areas.
  • Driving and supporting team Kaizen events.
  • Supporting the delivery of team-based Kaizen improvements in line with top loss data and site manufacturing strategy. Working cross functionally to ensure all departments contribute, assist, and deliver quantifiable performance improvement across the business.
  • Developing and supporting site PIP plan delivery.
  • Developing and supporting delivery of annual PIP plan in line with site manufacturing strategy. Working cross functionally to ensure all departments contribute, assist, and deliver quantifiable performance improvement across the business.
  • Communication & employee engagement.
  • Ensure mechanisms are in place to communicate and drive employee involvement within continuous improvement projects and continually review their effectiveness and explore new options which link to & support the site engagement plans.
  • KPI data evaluation/Tableau expert.
  • Data analysis, report development, cost saving evaluation and creation of improvement narratives.
  • Supporting site teams to solve complex problem by facilitating structured problem-solving events.
  • Lead the assessment of options and solutions, through to full capital plans, that eliminate waste and deliver new capacity / capability against the manufacturing strategy and business growth plans. To cover all E2E aspects of the business.

About you

  • Minimum Foundation level in lean or equivalent and Kaizan or Six Sigma (ideally Green belt).
  • Experience of food manufacturing industry.
  • Ability to build credible & successful working relationships at all levels within the organisation.
  • Change management experience.
  • Project leadership experience.
