About us
Petroineos Refining and Trading is one of the largest independent refiners trading in Europe. Petroineos owns and operates the Grangemouth Refinery Supply Terminal and the Dalston Terminal.
The Terminals allows Petroineos to supply product across the road loading racks directly to multiple customers within the Refinery catchment and by doing so to captures the available Wholesale and Commercial margins. Dalston Terminal is rail fed from the Petroineos Refinery and supplies to local markets and beyond with Ground Fuels.
We are seeking an Operations Technician to join us at our Dalston Terminal on a permanent basis.
Purpose of the role
The Operations Technician position is to support the safe receipt, storage and delivery of bulk liquids of a flammable or hazardous characteristic including the general upkeep security and safety of the establishment.
Key Accountabilities:
- Offloading of rail receipts including sampling product before receipt, in storage and on delivery. Testing product samples as required
- Monitoring pipelines during receipt and monitoring tank levels, particularly when filling
- Responding to Safety Critical System Alarms and taking appropriate preventative action
- Carrying out routine inspection of tank bunds including draining when necessary
- Dipping storage tanks and draining water from tanks in accordance with work procedures
- Carrying out sampling and testing of Tank Water Bottoms for quality purposes
- The correct operation of all Terminal Drainage Systems, Interceptors and Outfalls and adhering to procedures regarding the release of water from such systems
- Being able to assist with loading of Road Tankers as required
- Check and clean Line Filters and Pump Filters as required
- Control Room operations including monitoring of alarms and loading operations
- Overseeing of Fuel Additive receipts and stock control
- Ensure all work is conducted in full compliance with Company Health, Safety & Environmental Policies, associated site safety regulations and good industry practice
- Be pro-active with the Company Safety Management System and demonstrate safe working practices during all working activities
- The Terminal Tech/Operator contributes towards meeting Company Annual Safety Targets
- The Terminal Tech/Operator will be required to respond to on-site emergency events in accordance with Site Emergency Procedures and in the initial stages of an incident, when and where there may not be a management presence on-site, act as an Incident Controller until relieved
- The Terminal Operator will be required to deputize for the Operations Manager out of hours and ensure the site safety and security is maintained at a high level
Skills/Experience: All after training
- After training be able to demonstrate competence in the operation of site plant and equipment related to the receipt, storage a of hazardous bulk liquid petroleum products
- Understanding of the hazardous characteristics of the substances handled
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of the site safety regulations and controls and the action to be taken in an emergency situation
Special Characteristics: Desirable but not essential

Week 1 – Early Shift
Tue – Sat, 05:30 – 14:00
Week 2 – Nights
Mon – Fri, 22:00 – 06:00
Week 3 Days/Maintenance
Mon – Fri, 08:00 – 16:00
