This is an exciting opportunity for an Operations Engineer to join the Commercial Digital Technology Team. This role is part of BBC Studios, our global content company that supports the BBC Public Service mission of maximising the greatest commercial returns to the licence payer by building BBC brands, and reputation across the world.
The BBC Studios Product and Technology group is responsible for the design, and delivery of the Studios portfolio of products.
Our portfolio is diverse but is fully focused on supporting our functions and businesses around the globe whether that be back-office functions, content production or direct to consumer offerings. We are a growing function and will provide an important contribution to the business growth targets over the coming years.
Core to that growth will be the launching of new or enhanced digital products into the market monetize our content offering. You will be joining the team as a key member for shaping and delivering a commercial news subscription offering which is at the mobilisation phase.
Main ResponsibilitiesOur team
Commercial Digital are a multi-function delivery team focused on delivery of world class direct-to-consumer and business-to-business solutions within BBC Studios. We are a small agile team delivering big change. We work in a fast-paced environment more akin to a start-up.
Our products include a number of marquee brands including BBC.com, Doctor Who and BBC Earth.
You will join a team where everyone - including you – strives to better understand our customers and improve our products on a daily basis.

Opportunity
We are currently looking to recruit an Operations Engineer to join us at BBC Studios on an 18-month FTC (Fixed Term Contract).
- The FTC contract role may be made permanent at the end of the 18 month period.
The Operations Engineer will provide second line support to a new online product.
The Operations Engineer will need to ensure that product is running efficiently, that the service is available and monitored. Triage, troubleshooting and third level escalation skills will be needed for this role.
Are you the right candidate?It is essential for the Operations Engineer to be able to demonstrate experience in supporting and administrating software applications.
Experience working within a helpdesk environment would be extremely beneficial to this role and the ideal candidate will have a previous background of working in a fast-paced environment, dealing with several different client problems each day, researching to find the answers, communicating directly with the client both verbally and in writing.
- Experience of providing 1st & 2nd line IT helpdesk support
- Strong analytical skills
- High level of competency in Excel
- Ability to work unsupervised and use initiative
- Ability to clearly communicate complex information
- Work collaboratively with others to ensure business objectives are met and constructive business relationships are forged/ maintained
- Work proactively to resolve problems.
- Demonstrate ability to identify and resolve procedural / process issues

- Dedication to resolving troublesome issues
