We deliver schools sessions, family events and programmes, work for and with young people and programmes such as gigs, immersive work and installation artwork for adults across the five IWM museums, offsite and online.
We are looking for reliable, flexible, and enthusiastic individuals with diverse experience and backgrounds to join our team as Public Engagement Learning Assistants. We are also looking for individuals with exceptional presentation, storytelling, and delivery skills to join our team to support the delivery of Public Engagement and Learning events and programmes, primarily for schools and family audiences at IWM.
We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic individual with diverse experience to join our team as a Public Engagement Operations Assistant.
In this role we are looking for someone who can provide operational support across all of the functions of the Public Engagement and Learning Department (PEL) at IWM Duxford, and primarily the day-to-day running of school and family activities. Work hours will also include some weekend working days.
If you love the idea of working with different audiences, from students, to teachers, to family groups, are brilliant at building relationships and have excellent organisational skills, this role could be for you.
Your duties will include:
- Working as part of the Public Engagement and Learning Operations team to ensure the smooth-running of PEL processes. On a daily basis, this will particularly require daily diary overview of PEL activity, setting up of PEL materials, liaison with stakeholders, customer service and supporting the visitor journey for schools and family audiences.
- Assist with operational tasks for Public Engagement and Learning such as rostering and briefing casual staff and volunteers, collating and reporting on attendance, payroll administration and gathering evaluation figures.
- Management of AV and Tech equipment for PEL learning spaces.
- Providing operational support and assistance during Public Engagement and Learning events, activities and sessions when required.
- Being the first point of contact for site specific PEL operational enquiries. Answering questions from the public about PEL programming and communicating with school teachers regarding school sessions where needed.
- Consistently communicating issues or concerns to Operations Senior Producer and wider PEL team.
- Being responsible for departmental stationery and programme resources and maintaining an organised and tidy set of materials and resources, both physical and digital.
- Working with the Operations Senior Producer, to audit and maintain site handling collection.
- Supervising the work of volunteers, casual and freelance staff in relation to PEL activity when required.
- Being security conscious, ensuring familiarity and cooperation with all IWM security procedures.
- Being actively committed to health and safety and safeguarding, ensuring familiarity with all of IWM's health and safety and safeguarding policies and procedures.
- You will usually work Monday to Friday each week, however outside of school term time you will be expected to swap some weekdays for weekend days to fulfil your duties. IWM will give at least one-months’ notice of any weekend working when it is needed.
