We have opportunities for Operations Analysts within our Operational Delivery Profession where you will be responsible for a wide range of duties. You’ll be working alongside an experienced and supportive line manager and full training will be provided. To be successful in this role you will have good data and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail. Having good organisational skills will enable you to prioritise your workload effectively and you’ll also need to show that you can successfully establish positive working relationships with different colleagues across Ofgem and our external partners.

Job description
Ofgem administers a wide portfolio of environmental schemes, such as the Renewables Obligation; Non-Domestic RHI (NI and GB); Domestic RHI (GB); and Feed-In-Tariffs (FITs). All our schemes together are valued at approximately £9bn a year in consumer and taxpayer’s money. As part of the administration of these schemes, we are tasked with the assessment of a large volume of applications to verify eligibility, assessment of high volume and value data submissions, working on amendments, carrying out calculations/review of quantitative data sets, maintaining internal databases; and authorising payments/certificates to participants.
The Operational Delivery Profession delivers operational excellence across all aspects of service delivery and business support, helping Ofgem to deliver its priorities by administering efficient and trusted services. The post holder will be part of the Operational Delivery Profession within Ofgem’s Delivery and Schemes directorate, the directorate within Ofgem that focusses on the delivery and administration of Environmental and Social schemes. There may also be opportunities for deployment to other areas in the future.
This role sits within one of the portfolios served by the operational delivery profession which could include the Audit & Compliance Portfolio, Operations Portfolio or Business Support Portfolio. Operations Analysts will work to help deliver the team and portfolio objectives and they will work in one of the above areas or a combination of them.

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will vary depending on the needs of the organisation as well as the portfolio and team to which successful candidates are assigned to, but will include a combination of the following:
All roles include:
- Contributing towards the administration of the environmental schemes and achievement of key performance indicators.
- Updating, developing, documenting, and streamlining business procedures to ensure robust and efficient processes.
- Ability to build good relationships and credibility with a range of colleagues and external business contacts.
- Initiate and respond to communication/enquiries from external stakeholders through telephone and emails.
- Provide information to management as needed.
- Liaising with teams within and outside of their own direct team to understand and prioritise workload.
- Deliver targeted number of cases reviews as agreed with your manager by:
- Reviewing information provided, checking it is correct and meets requirements liaising with applicants/participants for corrections/additions.
- Contacting colleagues/ external stakeholders to progress complicated cases to conclusion.
- Recommending decisions around cases for confirmation by managers.
- Effective and confident use of Microsoft office suite – most specifically Outlook and Excel.
Some roles include:
- Identifying instances of potential fraud and non-compliance and make recommendations to management and relevant teams.
- Planning and supporting of audit programmes.
- Monitoring energy supplier performance against statutory obligations.
- Ensure applications for the scheme are accurately assessed against the eligibility criteria, within set timeframes.
- Managing certificates and supporting payments to scheme participants.
- Handling audit cases and amendment processes.
- Assisting on investigations into participants or supplier activities that may be non-compliant with the rules or have caused harm to energy consumers.
- Risk management: providing support to the business to effectively identify, report and manage operational and strategic risks and issues.
