Hybrid Working
We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. We’re flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances. Please discuss the detail of the working pattern options for the role with the hiring manager.

What will you be doing?
• Handling active law firm engagement in relation to horizon scanning, LExCo presentations and report preparation
  • Communicating with the Legal Chief Control Office (CCO), Legal and Risk teams in relation to risk and control matters for the Legal Function, including participating in relevant fora with other stakeholders
  • Liaising with the Legal CCO team in relation to Legal Principal Risk assisting the GGC with the Legal Risk Management Framework policies, risk management activities, reporting and public disclosures
  • Leading the Transformation and Optimisation team to help with their accountabilities and deliverables with respect to specific projects and more generally
  • Drafting governance, process or guidance documents pertaining to the Legal Function, assisting the Chief of Staff to the GGC and the Chief of Staff Office Lead throughout
  • Overseeing GGC meeting and presentation schedules and associated papers and assisting with the co-ordination and management of these
  • Managing other activities of the Legal Chief of Staff Office, including activities relating to the operation of LExCo, Legal Function colleague training, engagement, and communications
  • Bringing together different teams, disciplines and skill sets to aid the Legal Function, Barclays Corporate Secretariat (BCS) LExCo and the GGC

What we’re looking for:
• Ability to flex style and form, effective and influential relationships at all levels. Excellent communicator, both in written reports and verbal briefings with high attention to detail
  • Significant Ability to collaborate effectively with others, delivering quality output to tight deadlines
  • The Ability to work with minimum supervision, but comfortable knowing when and how to escalate issues and concerns and working in an ambiguous and dynamic environment
  • Solid Ability to operate in a complex environment and execute at pace to a Board-level standard, working with a complete discretion and ability to work on highly sensitive mat-ters

Skills that will help you in the role:
• Experience of preparing legal risk, Board, Board Committee, or similar papers
  • Significant Experience of working within Legal or a Chief of Staff team

Where will you be working?
In the centre of Spinningfields, Hardman Street is right in the centre of the best of Manchester’s professional business network. A multi divisional space with Corporate, Wealth, Premier and Digital colleagues, the offices include a client suite for meetings for up to 100 people, but are equally intimate for smaller meetings. Set in the heart of the cities gyms, bars, restaurants and shopping, Barclays offices are a real benefit to its 300 staff and an attractive venue for clients.
