Job description
This is exciting brand new role to lead the legal department of a newly established operation and maintenance branch of Canadian Solar group in the United Kingdom, boasting a pipeline of serviced projects as high as 1GW across the whole country and to lead on all the legal matters relating a 100+ employees subsidiary.
Your Responsibilities
· The successful candidate will be fully responsible to organize and provide efficient and effective legal support on all legal matters that may pertain to our O&M UK branch, and may be requested from time to time to support with similar issues in other jurisdictions.
· In particular, draft and negotiate O&M agreements, keeping an eye on bankability and liaising with finance team in that respect.
· prepare and advise on claims for EPC and O&M, Asset Management Agreements.
· Draft and negotiate various contracts and documents and support the organization operationally. including facilities and employment matters.
· Assist to develop standard operating procedures, guidelines and documentation templates.
· Stay abreast of the applicable legal framework and regulations.
· Study the regulatory issues and framework in which the business operates and take responsibility for the development of informed solutions enabling the business to respond to and deal with regulatory constraints.
· Coordinate with regulatory authorities, customers, counterparties and other colleagues.
Skills & Competencies
· Law degree from an accredited school of law with top score and qualified as solicitor in UK.
· 8+ years of previous experience inside a multinational company and/or a law firm.
· Significant experience in dealing with projects documentation with a strong sense of bankability . Experience in permitting of energy projects in the UK a plus.
· A mix of private practice and in-house experience preferred as well as strong ability to manage outside counsel.
· Team player and hard-worker, can-do attitude, with a good business judgement in providing compliant and business friendly legal solutions attention to detail. Ability to work efficiently, prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines, manage multiple projects are of the essence.
· Integrity as well as a thorough eye for compliance and corporate governance matters in a public company environment is strongly preferred.
· Must communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and possess analytical skills necessary for competent legal interpretation.
· Experience in the PV industry a plus.
· Fluent in English a must. Additional languages a plus.

Salary: £50,000.00-£80,000.00 per year
