Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner
Join one of the biggest acute hospitals trusts in the country! We have an opportunity for a Band 4 Senior Occupational Therapy Assistant at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston to work in the Integrated Health Care of the Older Person Team. The successful applicant will undertake evidence-based and holistic Occupational Therapy interventions enabling people to gain and or maintain independence in their chosen occupational performance activities within the inpatient setting. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing compassionate and excellent care. There will also be a requirement to undertake home visits either with or without the patient present to assess the environment for new equipment essential for discharge. You will be expected to hold their own caseload of patients and see them from admission to discharge. The post holder must be flexible, innovative, highly motivated and above all be committed to improving the care and assessment of older adults within the acute setting. The service requires the post holder to have a passion for working within the busy hospital environment and community and demonstrate compassion and understanding of the Occupational performance needs of the patient group.
To work with a degree of autonomy and as part of a team to manage a designated workload, maintaining appropriate records, within a scope of practice and accept accountability and responsibility for own actions. To accept patients within a scope of practice and carry own patient caseload. To evaluate patient’s progress and use own judgement to make amendments to the treatment programme within their scope of practice. To undertake administrative and some house-keeping duties to support the Occupational Therapy service.
You will assess people’s occupational need, taking into account their occupations, role, environment and lifestyle. We work in partnership with the person to agree priority areas for intervention which address problems with performing and managing occupations and also evaluation of progress towards goals. The focus of intervention is to promote individuals’ independence, choice, dignity and wellbeing whilst in hospital and upon their return to the community.
This post requires the appointed candidate to meet the essential requirements of the post and to work over a seven day roster.
