Occupational Therapy Aide Bristol, England

Bristol City Council
Full Time Bristol, England 24948 - 30151 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Permanent, Part Time 18.5 hours per week.

Are you practical – good at dismantling and putting things together? Do you like working with people and want to contribute to improving the lives of disabled children? Then we may have the perfect opportunity for you!

This opportunity has arisen in the Disabled Children Service – we are looking for an Occupational Therapy Aide to assist us with reviewing children’s equipment (such as their seating) to check if they have outgrown it or if it needs adjusting. Don’t worry if you haven’t had experience in this field as full training will be given. You just need to be practical, interested in working with disabled children and their families and be keen to learn.

You will be joining a friendly team of Occupational Therapists and support staff who provide a service to the disabled children of Bristol, mainly through providing specialist equipment and adaptations to help them become more independent in their homes. For example, we might provide seating equipment to help them sit upright, or equipment to help get in and out of, or support them in the bath or when using the toilet, or we might help adapt their home to help them get into or around it. You won’t need to come with any knowledge or experience of this equipment, you will just need an aptitude for adjusting it and be very keen to learn.

You will also be expected to undertake relevant administrative tasks, including arranging and writing up your visits and providing a basic maintenance service to the equipment. You will receive full training and regular supervision and support from both your supervisor and manager. Help and support is also always at hand from all members of the team.

So if you have a ‘can do’ approach and have good communication and computer skills, if you are good at using your initiative and can work flexibly, and are able to visit children when they get home from school, we would love to hear from you.
