As a Nutritionist/ Healthy Lifestyle Advisor in ABL’s specialist weight management programme you will be working with adults to support, motivate and advise thosewho are currently obese. You will be passionate about working with individuals to begin the life changing processes necessary for permanent and continued weight loss and weight maintenance.
You will be joining a large team of behaviour change specialists in ABL Health including Specialist Lifestyle Coaches, Nutritionists, Dietitians, GP’s, Psychotherapists and Exercise Specialists to deliver evidence based, holistic and realistic weight management to people in the community.
You will understand challenges and barriers that adults face with relation to their health (both physical and mental) wellbeing. You will engage with and build a good rapport with adults from varying communities across Lincolnshire.
You will deliver our existing programmes of weight management as well as supporting the development of new nutrition and exercise programmes that meet the needs of our clients. The ideal candidate will be passionate about promoting healthy lifestyles and delivering motivational change which is client centered. You will have a background in nutrition, exercise, public health, community health or adult and/or family weight management and be an excellent team player and have a willingness to learn and develop.
At ABL Health we don’t believe in diets but promote long term sustainable change which focuses on evidence-based principles of healthy living.
You will have the opportunity to attend monthly clinical supervision sessions and training sessions in order to upskill and develop whilst in the role. You will be supported by a team of specialist clinicians throughout and provided with relevant training to help you succeed in the role.
Some of the essential criteria for the role:
- Degree in accredited Nutrition course (RfN, AfN membership)
- Experience of delivering to groups and one-to-one specialist weight management interventions to adults
- Level 2 Gym instructor/Group exercise award or equivalent within 3 months of employment
- Registration with CIMSPA (this can be obtained within 6 months of employment)
- Excellent administration, record keeping and data collection skills.
- IT literate, preferably with experience using Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
- An understanding of environmental and social factors effecting obesity
- The ability to travel independently across the organisational footprint.
- Work flexibly and adapt to suit service need including evening.
