About the Trust – As a leader in child healthcare and research, Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust provides care for more than 330,000 children and young people each year, making us one of the biggest and busiest children’s hospitals in Europe. This care is delivered not only on our main site in Liverpool, but in patients’ homes and communities, and at other hospitals across the North of England.
Our state-of-the-art hospital, on our main site in Liverpool, opened in October 2015. It sets a new benchmark within the NHS and has won many prestigious industry awards. Buildings, however, are only as good as what happens inside them.
Excellent transport links mean their location is commutable from Liverpool, Wirral, Merseyside.
What you will be responsible for:
- To work within OFSTED registration guidelines to ensure a high standard of care for every child, whilst creating a safe and stimulating atmosphere for children to play, learn and develop. To enable young children to make good progress in their learning by building upon the skills they have in preparation for school readiness.
- To support the Nursery Management Team to create and maintain a safe, warm, caring and stimulating environment, providing encouragement and praise to ensure the development of each child.
- To implement/oversee the provision of daily activities which stimulate sensorial, creative messy play and also covers the seven areas of learning as stated in the EYFS frame work.
- To promote and encourage outside learning opportunities, assisting the children to explore the environment within the nursery gardens, through trips to local areas, ensuring staff ratios and health and safety guidelines are adhered to.
- To participate in regular supervision sessions, an annual appraisal review, and a personal development action plan that is reviewed every six months.
- To attend all statutory and mandatory training as and when required to do so.
* Please note that this job description is flexible and may be amended to reflect additional expectations should a suitable candidate wish to take on some leadership responsibility*
