Staffordshire University has recently opened a £4.4m Woodlands Day Nursery and Forest School in early 2022.
The nursery is located on our Leek Road Campus and is set adjacent to woodlands, yet very close to the city centre, with excellent local public transport links and employee on-site parking.
The new facilities is a sustainable place of early years learning with connections to the immediate landscape and nature reserve. Through the forest school provision, children will get the opportunity to experience endless outdoor learning opportunities such as identifying nature, play-based learning, den building and forest art. In 2022, we welcomed a brand-new Nursery and Forest School in the heart of our Stoke-on-Trent campus on Leek Road. Our Nursery and Forest School brings the forest setting to our city campus and is not only connected with its landscaped and idyllic surroundings, but also provides inspirational and flexible learning spaces that offer developing children digital experiences too.
Sustainability, digital technology, and nature are at the forefront of the new build, which aims to further the University’s commitment to creating a family-friendly campus. Featuring four inspirational learning spaces with areas for food preparation and wet play as well as flexible floor space, the new build also has additional capacity for a 24-place classroom and observational suite with leading digital technology.
The new nursery provision will also incorporate a forest school facility to further develop links with local schools and provide community participation opportunities. Aimed at children between the ages of three and seven years, the forest school will enable children to experience outdoor learning opportunities such as identifying nature, play-based learning, den building and forest art.
We have an exciting opportunity at Staffordshire University Nursery and we are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our team.
