Job description
The Gardens Nursery is looking for an outstanding Nursery chef to join the team at our beautiful 90 day place Nursery in Southfields. The right candidate will be able to produce healthy organic meals & snacks for young children and babies and understand children's nutrition and portion sizes. You must be able to maintain the kitchen environment to a high standard while adhering to good Food Safety practice and keep essential records. You will also have a designated full time Kitchen Assistant to help prepare the food.
To be considered for this role you must have:
- Minimum Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
- Cook meals from scratch on a daily basis
- Previous experience of cooking in large numbers
- Imaginative cooking skills
- Clear DBS
- Strong communication skills: written and verbal
- Good timekeeping and organisational skills
- An enthusiastic, flexible, can do attitude
- Have good leadership and management skills
- Know how to work as part of a team
- Calm when under pressure
Key Responsibilities
- Understand children's allergies and how to cater for them
- Ordering food from different suppliers
- Understand portion control and food wastage
- Create seasonal menus 3 times per year
- Make children’s party food for events

You will be working Monday to Friday, 7.30am-4.30pm
Up to 34,000 for the right candidate
