An exciting opportunity has arisen in the general team in the Short Stay Surgical Unit to work as band 5 scrub practitioner.
We are a unique team where experience in multiple areas can be gained. Our team covers general surgery, endocrine, gynaecology, maxilla-facial, dental, endoscopy, ear nose and robotics. Our health board is investing in the latest technology in order to provide best practice to our patients.
The team is well established and friendly, the nurses and ODP’s within the team are experienced mentors who are keen to impart their knowledge to new staff so that we can continue providing high quality care to our patients.
There are opportunities to advance education through training courses and study, for example: Institute of Leadership and Management and robotic scrub courses. You will be encouraged to participate in, and complete an in-service scrub induction program which will take place over a six-month supported induction period.

To assess, plan, implement and evaluate care within his/her sphere of responsibility, having regard for the differing needs of sedation, anaesthesia, endoscopy, surgery and recovery.
To supervise the delivery of care of other staff as appropriate.
To act in accordance with the legal requirements and statutory rules relating to practice and University Health Board (UHB) policies and procedures.
To liaise with other health care team members within the Perioperative Services Directorate in accordance with patient requirements and needs, ensuring confidentiality of patient information
Participate as a member of the theatre team, providing total patient care during the perioperative visit ensuring a safe environment
Assist with implementation and monitoring of patient care standards in collaboration with others.
Utilise a questioning approach to patient care and application of research within clinical practice. To raise awareness of relevant research findings in clinical practice complying with the principles of Clinical Governance. To actively participate in the audit
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
