We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, ambitious, and highly motivated Nurse, who is keen to make a real difference to join us on a senior managerial as a Nurse Lead .Their main role will be to supervise the nursing team across all College Health sites ensuring patients receive compassionate, effective, and efficient high-quality care they deserve.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe and effective nursing care to the whole practice population and will be accountable for the nursing service delivery.

Clinically, the focus of the role is the delivery of evidence-based practice for patients with long-term conditions, management and preventative nursing interventions to all patients- A full job description and person specification will be sent to interested persons.

As an autonomous practitioner, the nurse lead will be responsible for the care delivered, demonstrating critical thinking and skills in clinical decision-making. They will work collaboratively with the whole general practice team to meet the needs of patients, as well as providing leadership and direction for the nursing team.

The successful person will lead and manage the nursing resources, work closely and act as a liaison between the nursing staff, Partners, Practice management, GPs, other clinicians, HR, hospitals, care homes, families, and any other relevant 3rdparties to deliver the practice priorities. You will ensure 121s, probation reviews, appraisals. supervisions are carried out in a timely and effective manner.

You will allocate mentors and buddies to newly qualified Nurses and coordinate the activities of recruits that are new to practice Nursing.

Some management duties and responsibilities expected of the successful person are.

  • To act as first line manager for the nursing team (includes the Healthcare Assistants and Phlebotomists) dealing with all day to day clinical and staff management issues and queries.
  • To manage the nursing team in the undertaking of audits in relevant clinical areas ensuring patient health care needs are met, organising recalls and specialist clinics for disease specific areas.
  • To coordinate the team’s activities regarding QOF clinical indicators and provide regular updates at staff team meetings.
  • To assist in the development and delivery of policies and improvements to service provision in relation to nursing activities.
  • To ensure the nursing team maintains adequate supplies of equipment and stock for its own use.
  • To manage the development, encourage teamwork and coaching staff.
  • To support and assist with the development and mentoring of any other staff in relation to nursing activities and knowledge.
  • To advise on staff revalidation and registration where necessary.

  • Communicate effectively with other team members, patients, and carers
  • Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills
  • Acting in a way that recognises the importance of people’s rights, interpreting them in a way that is consistent with practice procedures and policies, and current legislation

Experience:

  • Practice Nursing: 1 year (required)
  • Leadership and management: 1 year (preferred)

  • NMC registration (preferred)
  • UK drivers license (preferred)
