Job description
As lead operative, you will be responsible for supervising your operations team. Your primary goal is to properly organize staff members and achieve a reasonable workflow throughout the day. Your position will also support the Plant supervisor in directing, performance managing, training, and assisting production employees on your shift.
As well as standard Plant Operative duties and responsibilities such as:
Use of bespoke machinery
Working towards targets & customer deadlines
Cleaning, and Quality checking
General Housekeeping
Loading & Unloading
The Lead Operative will also be responsible for:
Accountability for ensuring the shift staff follow all work instructions, policies, and procedures in the absence of the Shift Supervisor.
Ensuring compliance and safety to ensure the best possible quality products and service provision
Complete handover as and when required
Completion of routine paperwork
Performs routine compliance regulatory checks and spot checks to capture non conformities
Supports the Shift Supervisor to conduct regular quality assurance training to staff in line with metrics
Collect data sheets in the absence of the Shift Supervisor
Engages in effective communication across teams, departments, and organisation by using Sharpsmart’s communication systems and Motivates and maintains a productive, professional, and customer-service oriented team
Role Requirements:
- Plant / Warehouse experience
- Leadership experience
- Proven experience in improving processes and procedures
- Works well with others and can motivate people you work with.
- Good communication skills both written and verbal with record-keeping discipline
- Ability to work weekends, holidays or flex hours as needed by production demands
