Job description
As a front-line member of the Lairage team, you will work in a multi-disciplinary livestock department, providing your expertise and making a full contribution to the continuing success of the business. You will have the sole responsibility for the following during your working hours:
· Organisation of livestock within the lairages.
· Inputting of data into our system – cross checking expected counts with licences, invoices, and physical number of livestock unloaded.
· Ensuring the unloading of livestock is undertaken by the required welfare standards – counts, licences and FCI are all correct.
· Reporting discrepancies, changes, or adjustments to the lairage manager in a timely manner.
· Continually liaise with lairage manager regarding planning and organisation of stock.
· Actively promote and ensure impeccable animal welfare standards are always adhered to.
· Completing necessary Farm Assurance checks using Red Tractor/ QM Scotland/ Merlin QWFC
· Liaise with external hauliers and deadweight suppliers regarding times of arrival.
· Ensuring the working environment is to a high standard of cleanliness.
· Ensure all livestock is recorded clearly, correctly, and accurately on pen cards and boards.
· Feeding and bedding of livestock
· Mucking out
The working hours are Monday to Thursday, 5pm until 2am and Sundays 1pm-6pm.
28 days paid holiday - including bank holidays.

· Excellent Communication Skills
· Good eye for detail
· Organised and efficient
· Able to work under pressure.
· Computer literate
Must have:
· Previous experience of working with livestock – 3 years +
· Telehandler Licence
· Basic Tractor Skills (hitch trailers/use straw chopper)
· Ability to work alone
Desirable
· 5 years+ livestock experience – sheep
· Forklift licence
· Fully competent tractor Driver
