Job description
To work dependently with physicians, nurses and other clinical staff to provide safe, expedient, and efficient transport services to Kaiser Permanente members.
Essential Functions:
- Performs tasks associated with the safe transport of patients to and from multiple areas, while maintaining member confidentially and providing optimal customer service.
- Utilizes wheelchairs, stretchers and any lift equipment with appropriate body mechanics.
- Immediately notifies physician or other licensed health care provider of patients observed to be in distress.
- Ensures receiving department accepts patient and patient is safe while waiting.
- Ensures the return of equipment to its proper place.
- Assists members in and out of vehicles as necessary.
- Assists with inventory and requisition of transport required supplies
- Engages in positive interactions with Kaiser Permanente members, visitors and fellow staff members at all times.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- Minimum six (6) months of experience in a customer service environment required.
Education
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
- Current BLS certification required within six (6) months of hire.
Additional Requirements:
- Completion of all Kaiser Permanente required customer service and lift team training within the first sixty (60) days of employment, and annually thereafter.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Proven ability to follow direction and communicate effectively is required.
- This position will not be required to lift more than 50lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as a nursing/medical assistant in a hospital, doctor's office or ambulatory care clinic or current enrollment in nursing or allied health field is preferred.
- Transporter must have the ability to cross-train in various areas in the department (reception, peri-anesthesia, and OR)
