Job description

To work dependently with physicians, nurses and other clinical staff to provide safe, expedient, and efficient transport services to Kaiser Permanente members.

Essential Functions:

Performs tasks associated with the safe transport of patients to and from multiple areas, while maintaining member confidentially and providing optimal customer service.

Utilizes wheelchairs, stretchers and any lift equipment with appropriate body mechanics.

Immediately notifies physician or other licensed health care provider of patients observed to be in distress.

Ensures receiving department accepts patient and patient is safe while waiting.

Ensures the return of equipment to its proper place.

Assists members in and out of vehicles as necessary.

Assists with inventory and requisition of transport required supplies

Engages in positive interactions with Kaiser Permanente members, visitors and fellow staff members at all times.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

Minimum six (6) months of experience in a customer service environment required.

Education

High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

License, Certification, Registration

Current BLS certification required within six (6) months of hire.

Additional Requirements:

Completion of all Kaiser Permanente required customer service and lift team training within the first sixty (60) days of employment, and annually thereafter.

Knowledge of medical terminology.

Proven ability to follow direction and communicate effectively is required.

This position will not be required to lift more than 50lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience as a nursing/medical assistant in a hospital, doctor's office or ambulatory care clinic or current enrollment in nursing or allied health field is preferred.

Transporter must have the ability to cross-train in various areas in the department (reception, peri-anesthesia, and OR)
